An extraordinary early Ray-Ban rarity

This is the first-generation 1940s Bausch & Lomb Outdoorsman, featuring the original “Small-Hole” front ring — the earliest version of what later became the iconic Ray-Ban Shooter. Produced during the WWII era, these pre-Shooter models are identifiable by their small-diameter center ring, heavy-duty construction, and hand-finished 1/10 12K Gold-Filled frame.

This variant represents the earliest evolution of Ray-Ban’s field and sporting glasses, predating the standardized Shooter models of the 1950s–1970s. Surviving examples with full kits are extremely scarce, especially in unworn, preserved condition.

This pair remains unworn, retains all original B&L hardware, and includes a complete period-correct kit — a true collector’s piece.
