About the Designer / Relevance

Cecilio Orsini, a respected figure in the Italian eyewear world, founded the Apology Design line to explore sculptural, artistic eyewear beyond mainstream fashion. Produced in limited quantities during the late 1980s and early 1990s, Apology frames combined high-concept design with precision craftsmanship, often featuring clear acetates, gold cores, and minimalist silhouettes with elevated materials.

This piece reflects the elegant experimentation of that era—where the line between art object and optical accessory was intentionally blurred. These are increasingly difficult to find in unworn condition, making this a true collector’s frame.
