This pair shows no indication of having been worn based on our inspection. The acetate, hardware, folding mechanisms, temple markings and lenses present exceptionally well.

The 714 is one of Persol’s most recognizable designs, adapting the familiar 649-inspired pilot silhouette into a frame that folds at the bridge and temples for compact storage. Persol identifies the modern 714SM as handmade in Italy. 

Classic Persol details include the signature metal Arrow at the temples and the brand’s flexible temple construction.

LENSES

Blue sun lenses

The blue lenses pair particularly well with the warm translucent Havana acetate and are closely associated with the modern Steve McQueen 714SM configuration.

Persol currently identifies its Light Havana / Blue version as having Crystal Blue lenses manufactured from crystal glass. 

Based solely on photographs, however, I would not claim these exact lenses are crystal or polarized unless you confirm the lens specification or model code.

Few sunglasses have such a direct connection between eyewear design and Hollywood style.

The original Persol 714 became internationally associated with Steve McQueen after he wore the style in the 1968 film The Thomas Crown Affair. Persol subsequently developed the 714SM Steve McQueen edition as a tribute to that history.
