Vintage 1940s Persol 6156 “Arabic Export” Blue Mineral Glass – Deadstock – Rare Collectible
Description:
An extraordinary Persol 6156 from the late 1940s to early 1950s, preserved in Deadstock condition and verified as an original export edition for the Arabic market — one of the rarest Persol releases known to exist.
The frame features early celluloid acetate construction, Persol’s patented Meflecto flexible temples, and the Freccia Suprema arrow hinge, milled from early nickel-silver alloy. These components represent the foundation of Persol’s innovation and design legacy, long before the Ratti standardization era of the 1960s.
The temples are dual-engraved in English (“Persol”) and Arabic (“Al Bashawri”), Saudi opticals dealer that marked their Persols and some BL RayBans in the 50's-70's,marking this as a special-market production — a historical artifact of Persol’s earliest global distribution.

Era & Relevance:
This Persol predates the Ratti era and sits among the brand’s earliest functional masterpieces. The Meflecto temples, first patented in 1938, were the world’s first flexible arms — a design still used today.
This model demonstrates Persol’s early export ambitions and craftsmanship excellence, bridging Italian innovation with emerging Middle Eastern luxury markets — making it an exceptionally rare collector’s piece suitable for archival, display, or high-end collection acquisition.
Condition:
Deadstock / Never Worn.
Minimal signs of long-term storage. Frame and lenses remain pristine with strong hinge tension and no oxidation. An untouched survivor from one of Persol’s most formative decades.
Value & Pricing Insight:
Comparable pre-Ratti Persols with mineral glass lenses are nearly impossible to find — and export-engraved models like this have virtually never surfaced.
Estimated market range for archival examples: $1,800–$2,400 USD.
This particular configuration — with Arabic engraving and original blue mineral lenses — is museum-grade and one-of-a-kind.
